Prayer bells at Wat Nong Yai temple

2 ans.

- la pandémie (qui n’en finit pas) amenant des familles éclatées par des drames et des décès, et des amitiés brisées par les jugements, la désinformation, les blessures, les entêtements ou les incompréhensions;

- un voisin au sud (ex-président pour ne pas le nommer) qui ne décolère pas d’avoir perdu ses élections, et qui veut s’y remettre;

- un autre voisin plus loin au delà de l’arctique qui envoie des hommes se faire tuer sous de faux prétextes;

- une population de plus en plus affamée par la hausse vertigineuse des prix, et une autre par une pénurie de produits;

- une planète qui souffre d’insuffisance respiratoire et « inonde ici, et se dessèche là »;

…

Fresh fruit and Scrabble, for breakfast on the terrace

Marché de fruits frais. Au choix, litchis, mangues,
mandarines, mangoustans, papayes, et quoi d’autre!
Fresh fruit market: lychees, mangoes, tangerines, mangosteens, papayas, and what else!

Cuisinier ambulant.
Un plat (amplement suffisant pour deux personnes)
pour à peine 2 $  (50 bahts)
Itinerant cook. A dish (enough for two people) for just $2 (50 bahts)

Bon hiver mes amis  👋

MF and Luc ARE BACK!

 2 years.

 It's been 2 years since I wrote anything to you!

 2 years in which a series of serious events took place that will be recorded in the annals of the whole world:

 - the pandemic (which never ends) bringing families torn apart by tragedies and deaths, and friendships broken by judgments, misinformation, stubbornness or misunderstandings;

 - a neighbor to the south (ex-president not to name him) who is still angry at having lost his elections, and who wants to get back to it;

 - another neighbor further beyond the arctic who sends men to be killed under false pretenses;

 - a population increasingly starved by the vertiginous rise of prices, and another by a shortage of products;

 - a planet that suffers from respiratory failure and "floods here, and dries there";

 …

 In short, you have also noted it, our world is upside down!

 So my joys and my sorrows no longer count, you will understand that I had absolutely nothing to add on what was happening in our lives during these 2 years.

 But we must continue to live, get back on the move and try to rebuild our lives if we don't pick up where we left off.  And try if possible, to repair some damage.  Although I'm pretty pessimistic about it...

 However, I remain hopeful that one day, things will return to good shape, even if they will never be as they were.

 It was a very long preamble to tell you that we are back!

 Since November 1, 2022, we are under the hot and humid sun.

We thought about going back to Mexico but since the price of the studio we used to rent there has increased enormously (effect of the pandemic, they also say), we decided to compare with other places on the planet.

 As we know the unfailing welcome of Thailand, we were once again attracted by the land of smiles.  After a very quick reflection, we decided to settle there for the season.  Thus, for a fraction of the price of Playa del Carmen (Mexico), we have here in Pattaya a comparable studio from the inside but much more pleasant for the outside!  Terrace and swimming pool in front of the door, and gym upstairs.

 And we renew with the flavors of Thai food... 🤤

 Well, you have to recover from the pandemic, don’t we?

 Happy winter my friends  👋

Année 2020 / Year of 2020

 Décembre 2020.

Ouf!

December 2020.

 Phew!  What more can be add than ALL that has been already said.

 What year !

 We who forget everything, should remember this one.

 No need to lie down on the psychiatrist's large sofa.

 You don't need a long monologue to come to the same conclusion.

 To varying degrees I agree, we've all been through the same thing.

 Because everyone, without exception, everywhere IN THE WORLD has suffered its torments.

 Madness ... COVIDIAN, Trumpian, conspiratorial ... and so on.

 And several were scratched.

 And many are still today, like fried eggs ... turned, poached, calves, broken, scrambled, flat.

 But the year 2020 is coming to an end, thank goodness!

 A wind of freshness begins to blow.

 Let us keep hope, this great darkness is coming to an end.

 Let’s look ahead, and let’s remember only those outbursts of generosity, courage and solidarity that have been observed on our beautiful blue planet.

 May this New Year come according to my greatest wish: loving, resilient, compassionate.  May peace and forgiveness dwell within you.

 Happy new year my friends.

Marie France & Luc

 P.S. You will of course understand that we are staying in Quebec for this winter.  We remain in solidarity with our public health “soldiers”.  We will come back to new adventures when the good times have returned.

... pas ben loin / ... not so far

MF and Luc are gone… but not so far!

 Damn pandemic of shit.

 Oops, excuse me for the bad words.  But I'm sure you think so too, for probably a lot of reasons.  Confinement, no more restaurants, online shopping, wearing a mask, aggressiveness on social networks, depression in homes, Trump who wants to keep his throne… and more especially for a few people like me, no more travel!

 There, all is said.  This year 2020 is completely rotten.

 But as I often say, there are much worse (wars, killings, devastation, etc.).

 So, courage, you must not give up, you just have to be patient.

 For my part, I will be,

because you will understand that this winter, Luc and I will spend it…

in a Quebec living room.

 So don't wait for exotic photos or large explanatory texts.  I won't have anything to say because we'll all be going through the same thing.  The snow !

 So, beautiful fall, and good winter to ALL of us!

With love,

Marie France

Home sweet home

English will follow

“Inaction and a lack of timely intervention” on the part of the government, the court order says, could result in a greater spread of Covid-19 in Mexico.“The injunctive relief is granted,” the court order continues, to oblige the responsible authorities to take action against coronavirus “with the purpose of guaranteeing the human rights” of health and life.If the government fails to inform the judge within 24 hours of the measures they will take to combat Covid-19, “a fine will be imposed on it,” the court order says. (https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/coronavirus/judge-orders-government-to-take-measures-to-combat-coronavirus/ )

 Well, as you knew, we were waiting for our flight scheduled for April 5.  2 long weeks to wait, but since everything was calm in Mexico, nothing was stressing us ... well a bit anyway ... but apart the absence of tourists who finished their springbreak, everything seemed normal to us 2 days ago.

 In the morning of March 21, I read the regional newspaper.  On March 20, it is written that a first case of coronavirus was recorded in Playa delCarmen.  Oh ... it starts ... even if no sanitary measures are taken in Mexico, except the discontinuation of classes ...
 Luc looks at the internet, he finds an article (which dated March 19) that makes us falter.
 “Inaction and a lack of timely intervention” on the part of the government, the court order says, could result in a greater spread of Covid-19 in Mexico. “The injunctive relief is granted,” the court order continues, to oblige the responsible authorities to take action against coronavirus “with the purpose of guaranteeing the human rights” of health and life. If the government fails to inform the judge within 24 hours of the measures they will take to combat Covid-19, “a fine will be imposed on it,” the court order says. (https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/coronavirus/judge-orders-government-to-take-measures-to-combat-coronavirus/)
 This is what makes us say that the Mexican government was really not ready to face the coronavirus.
 Ok, no more waiting, we are looking for our flight (scheduled for April 5) on the internet ... flight that can not even be found on the official site, Interjet has put all its April flights on hold (but never advised us ...).

 We had read that Sunwing offered seats for those in need of repatriation, but it was impossible to book online.  Only one company offers the Cancún-Montreal flight: American Airlines.  Let’s go for this company (no choice), on March 22 at noon 05, we will leave for Montreal, with a stopover for Chicago.

 The next day, March 22, baggage ready, we set off for the airport.  In the meantime, I read the Press that scares me:  https://plus.lapresse.ca/screens/ddb8e5ee-825e-49fb-b9a4-d7917f2694f5__7C___0.html?utm_medium=Ulink&utm_campaign=Internal+Share&utm_content=Screen
 It was while reading this that I feared that American Airlines would do the same with us, and send us back to Mexico!  Okay, I'm starting to pray ...

 Once at the airport, Luc has the flash of genius to go and ask at the Sunwing counter ... they have 2 flights that day, direct to Quebec.  Bingo!  And they can take us, for free.  Too bad for our flight with American Airlines.

 So back several days earlier than expected, we are now in Canada.  Time to get my vehicle (thanks again Carole and Laurent), we drove to Chambly where we are welcomed. Huge thanks to Anthony.
 Now remains the quarantine that we must and will respect.

 So now, we are safe in Québec. At 2 levels of my sister which I can’t see. But that’s ok, everything will be ok.
May everything be ok for each of us.

 Marie-France
